Revenge Of The Nerds 4: Nerds In Love
Within the first 15 minutes or so, I was SHOCKED to realize that this film was far more funny and engaging then the excrement known as Part 3, in a big way because it feels like an actual Nerds reunion movie, with the original gang (except for Gilbert, Poindexter, and Wormser) actually being featured throughout the movie instead of just quick cameos at the end. We also donât have to sit thru half the movie thank god, to wait for Lewis Skolnick to finally remember that heâs a nerd, heâs spouting that famous horselaugh from pretty much his first scene. A stark contrast to Part 3, which tried way too hard to push the ânext generationâ of nerds on us, with the only holdovers here being the fat, disgusting Trevor and Skolnickâs repulsive nephew. Itâs also very nice to see Ogre return to the fray as well. As before, the TV movie format really doesnât do justice to the essentially R-rated Nerds concept, and the sickening PC attitude continues as itâs made quite clear that in this filmâs context, Nerd = Liberal. In fact, itâs practically beaten over our head throughout the running time. Itâs also sad to see Ted McGinleyâs Stan Gable reduced to a mere extended cameo, since the character comes down with âchicken poxâ (probably more due to McGinleyâs commitment to Married With Children at the time). I also could have done without having to sit thru Lamarâs striptease (a little of that goes a long way) which he does primarily to court the gay caterer. Still, this does succeed in bringing back the charm of the older films, and Corinne Boher as Boogerâs fiancee is cute and likable while Joseph Bologna has some funny moments as her conservative dad. Several name actors also do well in smaller parts including Robert Picardo and James Karen. As for the Nerds themselves, itâs nice to see the crew kicking it one last time, as even though theyâre practically neutered by virtue of being a TV movie, they at least go out on somewhat of a high noteâŠ
